It has become common knowledge that setting effective career goals will help you in attaining the job that you desire; you may have determined these goals, but are they genuinely achievable – and are you truly working hard to reach them?
1. Choose a Career that You Are Passionate About
Most people are unsuccessful in the area of career planning is due the fact they either are not putting enough effort in pursuing their goals, the career itself do not offer any advancement opportunities or the goals that they have set are not realistic at all.

2. Select a Field with Many Advancement Options
You will need to determine a field that has many advancement options in order to move your career forward. It may sound unfair but some jobs have limited area for growth and usually leave your career life static. For example, teaching profession may not offer any advancement options unless you secure a higher degree – which is time consuming.
3. Fix Clear and Realistic Goals
Just like New Year resolutions, many career goals also fail to materialize because they are usually too unclear. A resolution like “to be healthy” may sound pleasing to the ear but it is so general that you don’t know where to start.
Similarly, unrealistic goals are difficult to reach and will only add on to your frustration which may lead some people to think that they a failure.
Career planning is not very difficult; it just needs pure hard work, a lot of fact-finding and careful consideration.
